BOGARDUS DAGUERREOTYPE. 1840's 1/6 Plate(3 1/4" X 2 3/4") dag. of young lady.  Bogardus stamped in octogonal mat., Abraham Bogardus opened his daguerrian gallery in NYC in 1846, and is considered one of the premier 19th c. photographers. Recently cleaned, good, seals not intact, housed in mat, and full leather case  (G+ cond/repaired  spine). (Ph.005) $200.eb

ph007.jpg (948872 bytes)STEREO - 1/2 pl MASCHERS STEREOSCOPE 1/2 pl (4 1/4" x 5 1/2")  Mascher's Improved Stereoscope  patent dated March 8th, 1853. The invention by J. F. Mascher, incorporated the use of two  lenses in a simple arrangement on a supplementary lid or flip,  When the supplemental lid is raised, you look through the dual lenses to view the images in 3-D. Basically as is cond: unfortunately, the images are later cdvs (taken from a multi lens camera and view in 3-d. House in an Eichemeyer style case, the spine is intact, exhibits some rubbing to leather , small ding , all easily repairable, clasp missing from one side, mat has discoloration..  (Ph.07) ; $800.

 Richard Beard  was an English entrepreneur and photographer who vigorously protected his photographic business by litigation over his photographic patents and helped to establish professional photography in the UK. In 1841 with the assistance of the inventor John Johnson, Beard opened England's first professional photography studio . He purchased a monopoly on the patent of the Daguerreotype process in England and Wales , and established a chain of photographic studios in London and selling licenses for studios in the provinces,. On the back of the image ( as part of the case), is the embossed emblem  ‘T. Wharton, No. 791  24 August 1841’. Thomas Wharton was a bronzist and manufacturer of ornaments in bronze and ormulu, jappanned miniature frames, morocco cases &c.’..It is believed that the datet may refer to a registration of the case design.
